Software prices in Iraq are hard to compare because vendors quote in different currencies, per user or per shop, monthly or yearly, and the cheap number on the website is rarely the number on the invoice. Below is what a **one-branch shop with an owner and one cashier** would pay per year, from each vendor's own price page on 14 September 2026. Prices change; the sources are at the end so you can re-check.

## The yearly bill, side by side

![What a two-user shop pays per year, September 2026: Odoo 174 in its first year, Daftra 240, Dashing about 320, Loyverse with add-ons 350, QuickBooks Simple Start 456 US dollars](/charts/cashier-software-cost-2026.svg)

| Product | What you get | Yearly cost, 2 users | Currency |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Dashing** | Cashier, stock, double-entry accounting, debts on WhatsApp, branches, Dash, everything | **420,000 IQD** (about $300–320 depending on the rate); the free plan is the whole shop for one branch | Dinar |
| **Daftra** | Invoicing, stock, accounting, POS app | **$240 to $600** by plan; one user included, more users priced separately; invoice caps on the lower plans | Dollar |
| **Odoo** | ERP: POS, stock, accounting and every other app | **$174 in the first year** ($7.25 per user per month on the yearly plan, a 12-month discount), then **about $215** ($8.95); implementation help extra | Dollar |
| **QuickBooks Online** | Accounting only, no cashier (Intuit ended its POS in 2023) | **$456** (Simple Start, $38 a month, 1 user); Essentials for more users $85 a month | Dollar |
| **Loyverse** | Free POS; add-ons for inventory and staff | **$0 to $350** ($250 a year advanced inventory per store + $50 a year per employee), accounting not included | Dollar |

Two things the table cannot show: Odoo's price assumes you can set it up yourself, and QuickBooks and Loyverse both leave you needing a second product (a cashier or an accountant's system respectively).

## The fees that hide

1. **Per user.** A "from $20 a month" price is often for one person. The owner, the cashier and the accountant are three.
2. **Per transaction.** Some POS products take a percentage of card sales. Dashing charges none.
3. **Per branch.** A second shop can double the bill. In Dashing branches are included.
4. **Dollar billing.** A dollar price is a dinar price that moves with the rate, plus the card fee to pay it. Dashing bills in dinars.
5. **"Setup" and "training".** Ask whether the first setup is included. Dashing's yearly plan includes it.
6. **Auto-renewal.** Read whether the card is charged again next year without asking. Dashing does not auto-renew.
7. **The exit.** Some vendors charge for an export. Dashing exports to CSV at any time, free.

## The hardware

The software is the smaller cost in the first year. Rough local-market ranges in September 2026; these are not quotes, so ask two shops:

- **A device**: any laptop, Android tablet or phone you already own works with a browser-based system. A dedicated tablet is typically 150,000–400,000 IQD.
- **A barcode scanner** (keyboard-wedge, USB or Bluetooth): typically 25,000–80,000 IQD.
- **An 80 mm thermal printer**: typically 70,000–200,000 IQD. Paper rolls are cheap; the WhatsApp receipt is free.
- **A cash drawer**: optional; a printer-driven drawer typically 50,000–120,000 IQD.

A system that requires a "special terminal" adds hundreds of dollars and ties you to one vendor; prefer one that runs on what you have.

## The cost of the notebook

The alternative to all of the above is free, and it is the most expensive option in the table. What the notebook and Excel cannot do: deduct stock at the moment of sale, age a customer's debt, count the drawer against what should be in it, or show the real profit after cost of goods and expenses. Shops rarely measure the loss because there is nothing to measure it with. Excel and the debt notebook vs a system goes through what falls between them.

## What Dashing costs, in one paragraph

The free plan is the whole shop for one branch: the cashier, stock and invoices with no cap, full accounting and unlimited users, with Dash at 10 messages an hour, no card and no time limit. The yearly plan is 420,000 IQD paid once for twelve months, about 35,000 a month, and adds branches, Dash at 100 messages an hour, removes the "sent with Dashing" line from receipts, and comes with a setup session and priority WhatsApp support. No per-transaction fees, no per-branch fees, a 14-day money-back guarantee, and no auto-renewal. [Pricing](/pricing) has the plan comparison.
