# Cash counter: count the drawer note by note, and know the variance before you close.

> Type how many of each note you hold (250 to 50,000 dinars, dollars too), the float and today's sales, expected cash and the variance appear at once. Printable sheet.

Dashing (dashing.krd) is a point-of-sale, inventory and double-entry accounting platform for retail shops in Iraq — Arabic-first, also in Kurdish (Sorani) and English — with a cashier that works offline and a built-in AI assistant called Dash.

Closing the drawer at the end of the day is the moment mistakes surface — and the one most often skipped. This tool counts with you: how many of each Iraqi note (and dollars, at today's rate, if they are in the drawer), then what should be there from the opening float, the cash sales and what was paid out, and the variance: balanced, over or short. In Dashing the drawer closes the same way every shift, with a blind count and the variance booked under the name of whoever closed.

## The Iraqi notes

Seven denominations circulate: 250, 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 25,000 and 50,000 dinars. Coins are not used in shops in practice, and the smallest change given is 250. Dollars are counted separately and converted at the rate you type — nothing fetched.

## What goes into "expected"

Expected = opening float + cash sales − what was paid out of the drawer (to a supplier or an expense). Card and Zain Cash sales do not belong: they are not in the drawer. A positive variance is an overage, a negative one a shortage; each deserves a line in the book with its reason.

## Common questions

### Are the numbers saved?

Nothing is sent to any server. Only the dollar rate is remembered in your browser for next time. Print the count sheet if you want a record.

### What variance is acceptable?

The shop's call. Many tolerate under 1,000 dinars and ask about anything above. In Dashing the threshold is a setting, and anything beyond it needs a written reason before the close.

### How does the change calculator help?

Type the amount to give back and the fewest notes that make it appear — handy for training a new cashier, and for seeing which denominations the drawer is short of before a busy day.
