# QR code generator: one code for your link, Wi-Fi or WhatsApp that never expires.

> A QR code for a link, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, a call, SMS, email or a contact card (vCard). Download PNG or SVG, or print it. Static codes that never expire. No sign-up.

Dashing (dashing.krd) is a point-of-sale, inventory and double-entry accounting platform for retail shops in Iraq — Arabic-first, also in Kurdish (Sorani) and English — with a cashier that works offline and a built-in AI assistant called Dash.

Choose what the code should open, fill in the details, and the QR code appears at once, ready to print or download as PNG or SVG. It can open a link, a WhatsApp chat, a phone call, a text message, an email, your Wi-Fi network or a contact card that saves your number. The tool draws the code in your browser, with your name above it and a caption below, at sticker, card or sign size. Whoever scans it passes through no middle link and no service that expires, so the code keeps working for as long as what it opens exists.

## What the code can open

A link: your page, a price list, a spot on the map. WhatsApp: a chat opens with your number and, if you want, a ready message. A call or an SMS: the number appears ready to dial or text. Email: the mail app opens with the address, subject and message filled in. Wi-Fi: the phone joins your network without typing the password, on Android and iPhone alike. Contact card: the phone offers to save your name, business, number, email and website as a new contact (vCard). Text: any words you want whoever scans it to read.

## Where to put it and how big

A 4 cm sticker on the till or on the receipt is scanned from close up. A 7 cm card on the counter or the door. A 14 cm sign on the wall scans from two metres. The rule: the scanning distance is about ten times the width of the code, so make it bigger the further the customer stands. Leave a white margin around it and never print it on a dark background.

## Static QR codes: why there is no middle link

Many QR generators online put in the code a link that passes through their server and then forwards to your destination, to count the scans and sell you a subscription, and when you stop paying the code printed on a hundred receipts stops working. Here the code carries what the phone reads directly: the link itself, the number itself, the network itself. The customer passes through nobody, and the code keeps working as long as what it opens exists.

## The payment code on the receipt

If your shop has a mobile wallet, the code the wallet provider gives you is what to print for payment, not a code from here. In Dashing the shop's WhatsApp code is printed on every receipt and statement sent to the customer, and the receipt's own link opens from their phone with no printing at all.

## Common questions

### Does the code expire or stop working?

No. The code is a picture carrying the link or the number itself and does not depend on this page once printed. It stops only if you change the number or delete the page it opens.

### Does the Wi-Fi code work on iPhone?

Yes, from the phone camera directly on recent iPhones and Android phones. Type the network name exactly as it is, capitals and all, or the phone will not find it.

### Which file do I give the print shop?

SVG if the print shop accepts it: it scales to any size without blurring. Otherwise PNG, which is sharp enough for an A4 sign. For the shop's own printer, press Print directly.

### Can I add a logo or change the colours?

Colours, yes: pick the code and background colours, and the tool warns you when the contrast is low or the code is lighter than its background, because many phones cannot read that. A logo is not in this tool: it covers part of the code and relies on error correction to stay readable, so if you add one in a design program, test the printed code with several phones before printing many.

### Is there a limit on scans?

No. A static code is only a picture of the text it carries: nothing counts the scans and nothing stops them. The other side of that is that you cannot see how many people scanned it.
