Barcode 978–979: which country is it from?
A barcode starting 978 or 979 is the book's ISBN (or ISMN for printed music) written as a barcode. The publisher's country shows in the digits that follow, not in the prefix.

Common questions
How do I know the number is valid?
The last digit of a barcode is a check digit computed from the twelve before it. Type the full number into the tool: if the check digit does not match, the barcode was misprinted or misread. A valid number proves the barcode is well-formed; it does not prove the product is genuine.
Why is the product not found?
The product name comes from an open database that people add products to. It has most well-known brands and misses many local products. If the product is not found, the number is not necessarily wrong; nobody has added it yet.
