Cashier software in Kurdish (Sorani): what exists and what to check
For shops in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok: what 'Kurdish support' really means in cashier software, which systems say they have Kurdish, and what to test before you pay.
The Dashing team3 min read
Across the Kurdistan Region the cashier speaks Kurdish and the customer asks in Kurdish, but most cashier software arrives in English or Arabic, and "Kurdish" appears only in the feature list. We are the Dashing (داشنك) team and our product is in the article; we say so where it appears.

"Kurdish support" is six different things
- The interface: buttons, menus and messages in Sorani, right-to-left, in a font that renders the Kurdish letters (ڕ، ڵ، ێ، ۆ، ە) correctly.
- Receipts and statements: what the customer sees, the paper receipt, the WhatsApp link, the statement, in Kurdish, not only the cashier screen.
- A language per user: the cashier in Kurdish, the accountant in Arabic, the owner in English, all on the same data. One language per shop for all staff is not enough.
- Numbers: Western digits (0–9) for prices and quantities, because computers, bank cards and barcodes work with them.
- Search: being able to search an item by its Kurdish name rather than having to know its English one.
- Help and support: when you ask a question, the answer comes in Kurdish, on the website, in the in-app assistant, and from the support person.
A system that does only the first is "translated". A system that does all six is "in Kurdish".
Which systems have Kurdish (per their own sites, 2026-09-14)

What Dashing does in Kurdish
- Every screen in Sorani, right-to-left, at the same level as Arabic and English, not a translation added later.
- A language per user from the language menu; the cashier, the accountant and the owner each in their own.
- The customer statement in Kurdish as a WhatsApp link valid for 30 days.
- Dash, the AI assistant, answers in the interface language: ask in Kurdish, get an answer in Kurdish, from your own numbers.
- Reports and the books in Kurdish for the owner, while an accountant working in Arabic sees the same books in Arabic.
- Works offline: in Kurdistan as in all of Iraq, the internet drops during exams and in some areas.
What Dashing does not do: plainly
- No Kurmanji; Sorani only. For Duhok that means a Sorani, Arabic or English interface.
- The Kurdish texts of this website are drafts under review by a native speaker; if you spot an error, tell us.
- No table-service restaurants or kitchen screens, no e-invoicing, no payroll, in every language.
What to test before you buy (any system)
- Switch the interface to Kurdish and open the sell screen and a report: is everything translated, or half?
- Add an item with a Kurdish name and search for it by that name.
- Print a receipt and send a WhatsApp link: are they in Kurdish?
- Create two users with two languages and check that each sees their own.
- Turn off the internet and make a sale.
- Ask support a question in Kurdish and see who answers, and in which language.
The complete guide to cashier software in Iraq covers every other question: price, the dinar, debts and choosing.
