What a quotation includes

The shop's name and phone, the customer, a number and a date, each item with its quantity and price, then any discount and tax, the total, and the date the prices hold until. The terms, such as delivery time, how to pay and what the price leaves out, go in the note line at the bottom. A number on every quotation lets the customer quote it when they order, and lets you find it.

Quotation, proforma invoice or invoice?

A quotation offers prices and waits for the customer's yes. A proforma invoice asks for payment before delivery, and is not the final invoice. The invoice records the sale once it is made. Many shops send all three for the same order, in that order; each has its own numbering here.

How long a quotation stays valid

The page sets 15 days from the quotation's date, and you can change it. When your costs move with the exchange rate, a shorter validity protects you: a quotation written at an old dollar rate is still a promise if the customer comes back weeks later.

Quotes in Dashing

In Dashing a quote becomes the invoice when the customer accepts, without typing the lines again. A quote can be priced in the other currency at a rate you type, and the invoice is then booked in the shop's own currency at that rate.
