The debt book that does not get lost, and forgets nobody.

The debt notebook in the drawer knows how much each customer took, and not how much they paid, nor since when, nor who has gone three months without passing by. This book knows: each customer's entries by date, debt and payment, and the balance after each one. A payment settles the oldest debt first, so each customer's age is the age of the oldest dinar not yet paid, and that is what the book is sorted and coloured by. A statement per customer prints, copies, or goes out on WhatsApp with a reminder of the amount. It is kept in your browser and exported as one file that brings all of it back on any device.

The book is empty. Add the first customer, paste your old notebook, or try an example.

The whole book

The book is kept in this browser on this device only and is sent to no server. Export it as a file every week and keep it on your phone or on Google Drive; one file brings the whole book back on any device.

How to record

Add the customer once, with a name and a phone. Whenever they take something on credit, record the amount, the date and a short note if you like; whenever they pay, record a payment. The balance works itself out, and a wrong entry is deleted with one tap. Your old notebook can be pasted in whole: one line per entry, name, amount and date, in any digits.

Why a payment settles the oldest debt first

A customer took 100 thousand in June and 50 thousand in July and paid 120 thousand in August: the balance is 30 thousand, but the question that matters is since when. Counting the payment against the oldest, the whole balance is from July and two months old; this is the right arithmetic, the one banks and accounting software use, because it is the old debt that turns into a bad debt if left alone.

The reminder that gets paid

A short, polite message with the name, the amount and the date of the oldest debt, from the shop's number, is enough in most cases; the customer knows your book is in order. A customer past 60 days deserves a message now, not next month: after 90 days roughly half of what is owed is never collected. Send reminders on the morning of payday in your area, not on Friday night.

Your book on your device

Everything is kept in this device's browser and sent to no server; no account, no sign-up. Which has its other side: if the browser is cleared or the phone is lost, the book is lost. Export it as a CSV file every week and keep it on your phone or on Google Drive; one file brings the whole book back on any device. When the customers become many and the shop more than one person, the book moves into Dashing with that same file.

When credit becomes part of the sale

In Dashing the debt is not recorded after the sale but with it: the till sells on credit and the debt is booked on the customer at that moment with the items and prices, the payment is collected from the same screen and settles the oldest first, the statement goes out on WhatsApp as a link the customer opens, and the late ones appear in a ready reminder list every morning. The book here does the manual part of that.

Common questions

What is debt aging?

Sorting what customers owe by how long it has gone unpaid: up to 30 days, from 31 to 60, from 61 to 90, and over 90. The older a debt, the less likely it is to be paid, so the book colours each customer by the age of their oldest unpaid amount and puts the oldest at the top.

Can anyone else see this book?

No. It never leaves your browser, and we do not see it. Whoever opens this browser on this device sees it, so do not use it on a shared device without a lock.

What if a customer pays more than they owe?

They show a negative balance, an amount you hold for them, and it is deducted from their next debts automatically. The statement writes it as "credit in your favour".

Can I use it on my phone and the computer together?

Each device has its own book. Export the file from one and import it on the other; what it holds is added to the book, not swapped for it. One book that several people open at the same time is what the product does, not the tool.

Dashing does this for every item, automatically, in your shop.
