WhatsApp link generator: the customer taps or scans, and the chat starts with your message.
A wa.me link opens a WhatsApp chat with your number without the customer saving it first. It needs the number in international form: the country code, then the number without its leading zero, digits only. A UK mobile written 07700 900123 becomes 447700900123; an Iraqi one written 0770 123 4567 becomes 9647701234567. Type the number with + and its country code (an Iraqi number also works as written locally) and the message you want the customer to start with, and the link and a printable QR code appear. Dashing sends receipts and statements on WhatsApp the same way.
A QR code to print at the counter
The code appears once the number is complete.
Where to put the link
The "Message us" button on your Facebook and Instagram pages, the TikTok bio, the receipt footer, and a QR sticker by the till. A starting message makes the customer type less and tells you where they came from ("from the ad", "about the offer").
How a wa.me link is built
The link is https://wa.me/ followed by the full number in digits, then ?text= and the message, encoded so spaces and non-Latin letters survive the trip: https://wa.me/447700900123?text=Hello. The tool encodes the message for you. A link without a message opens an empty chat.
Message templates
Five messages a shop sends every day, ready in one tap: a general enquiry, your order is ready, a debt reminder, thanks after a purchase, holiday hours. Type your shop name once and it fills the templates; edit the text as you like. The QR downloads as PNG or SVG for the shopfront or a card.
Common questions
Why does my link open the wrong number, or say it is not on WhatsApp?
Almost always a missing country code. A local number such as 07700 900123 does not say which country it belongs to; write it with + and the code (+44 7700 900123) and check the digits in the link before you share it.
Does the link work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes, wa.me opens regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, whichever is installed on the customer's phone.
